Water heater blanket

Been thinking about getting blanket for water heater for some time.
We have Rheem marathon 80gal older model.

I went to Lowes and bought couple of thermal pad looking blankets.
I have not open up the blankets, but looks like it is more like sheet not form to fit.

Is this best I will be able to find out there?

If so, how do you fit this onto water heater?

Thank you!

Water heater blanket

have you contacted your power company? Some have energy saving programs. They might supply a wrap to you for nothing

Water heater blanket

Any of the ones that I have seen have been similar to what you described. They are compressed in the package, but "fluff out" a bit when removed from the package, then wrapped around the heater, cut onsite with scissors to clear the pilot, etc., and the ends are taped to provide a complete wrap.
