Water damage from bathtub

We just bought our first home and the bathtub seems to drip ,i.e,from the faucet. We turned of the water lines at the base of the tub( clawfoot) and now we have moisture and leaking from the area directly below. I think it might either be a newish cheap faucet that needs washers or the overflow gasket. Any thoughts?
