Water Collecting Around Sink Drain

No matter how many times i try to readjust the bathroom sink drain, water collects around the base of the drain. It seems almost impossible to keep the top level when tightening the pipe. Could it be that the sink hole is not perfectly beveled? Its an undermount sink if that makes a difference. I thought sinks had universal drain holes. Or is this normal?

You may have a lousy pop-up drain assembly---the good ones have a nice thin brass (chrome plated?) sink drain piece --The bad ones use plastic with a stamped metal covering-

What do you have?

I have the plastic with stamped metal covering. After I was looking at it again that is exactly the problem. I took the stamped metal cover off and put just the plastic in and it fits perfect. Looks like I am going to get better ones tomorrow. Any recommendations?

Look for the replacement at the Home Depot--they used to have a nice brass one for about $12--

Blue and white cardboard box--I hope that the still have that one--it worked well--
