Water in the Bathtub drain

After unscrewing the bathtub plug that wasn't working, I noticed water sitting inside the drain. The bath doesn't clog or anything, but if you look carefully inside there's always water sitting there. I've tried pouring drain cleaners etc. but not really sure.....What can I do?

I think you are seeing the U trap. All drains have a U shape piece which will hold water. The water blocks sewer gases from escaping through the drain. In other words, it's normal.

FYI, it's called a P trap.
