water in basement

Where does the floor drain pipe go?

You need to be sure that rainwater does not accumulate against the sides of the house. This may mean putting extenders on the gutter downspouts or even regrading the land around the house. Simply putting down a layer of gravel around the house will not fix the problem.

Do you have a sump pump and perimeter drain system? If you already have that it is possible that the drain pipes are clogged. A sump pump with no under-floor perimeter drain pipes is usually not good enough.

Perforated pipe perimeter drain systems can be either just inside or just outside the foundation, below basement floor level, with the outside system giving slightly better performance. Both kinds of systems demand that the water be removed, either by flowing underground downhill some distance to somewhere, anywhere, else, or accumulating temporarily in a pit to be pumped some distance away from the house before the water level in the pit gets higher than basement floor level.
