My basement has a drain in it and on several occasions it started to back up and overflow with water. I noticed it once and turned off the water supply which is located in the basement, but the water kept coming up thru the drain. I called the plumber and told them what happened and they actually called the city water company who came out and check'd the sewer near my home, but didn't see anything. Are there any suggestions as to what may be causing this. I'm tired of sweeping water up!!!
Even though the City checked the sewer "near your home", they didn't check your main drain line. You have a clog that needs to be augered out. Hopefully, it isn't tree roots or a broken line that is sagging and catching waste to form a clog. You may opt for a company that has cameras to see what the real problem is.
If you have never made a mistake, you haven't done much.
