Washing machine faucet

The plastic knob on my cold water faucet for the washing machine broke off in my hands. How can I replace the knob? Is there a way to replace it with a metal knob, so this doesn't happen again?

That would depend on the style of the shutoff. You might find a replacement handle to fit but the rest of the valve is probably plastic also. It would be wise to replace the valve. These cheapy valves are a problem waiting to happen. Be thankful the handle was the part that broke.
Happy New Year.

I have the worse problem where the faucet broke below the housing from which the valve sticks up. How does one get to the valve to replace it?
