Washing machine drain line noise
The house I own is about 7 years old. The laundryroom shares a wall with the master bedroom. The drain for the washer is in the wall between the laundry and bedroom. You can't start a load of wash and go to bed because when the washer pumps out the noise of the water going down that pipe (pvc) will wake you up. I have thought about adding a piece of rubber drain hose to the drain hose from the washer, long enough to reach the bottom of the vertical drain pipe. Thinking the water hitting that far down the pipe would be much more quiet. Opinions?
Thanks |

Washing machine drain line noise
Drain pipe is porbably PVC, which is noted for being noisey. The only way I know of to improve that is replace it with cast iron, or open the wall and insulate the pipe.
