Washer/Dryer Hookup in Basement

Hi All,

recently purchased an old house. it has a washer hooked up in the kitchen.

I was given a washer/dryer and want to hook them up in the basement. there is a perfect outlet right there into the drain/sewer pipe.

what i don't know how to do is hook up the plumbing to the washer.

is this something i could do myself with a little help from you guys and a book or two? thinking i could just run PEX hot and cold.
but obviously i have no idea how to do this.

i'd really like to avoid hiring people.

i could take pictures and follow any directions.

Washer/Dryer Hookup in Basement

What kind of pipe is there to tap into?

Pictures would be good.

My idea of a perfect day: No where to go and all day to get there.
