Washer Drain Overflows
Hello. Purchased our house in August 2011. It was built in 1953. Alot of caster iron. Everything I have been doing I have been switching over to PVC. The house came with an old washer and dryer. We finally were able to replace the washer and dryer. I hooked up the new washer yesterday of how they had the old one hooked up. It was going into a 1 1/2 pipe (cast iron). When the washer would drain it was overflowing. I figured the new washer has a more powerful drain. So I tore out the cast iron and put in PVC 2 inch. On this sewage line is the washer and kitchen sink. It is not vented. Kitchen sink drains great. By the way the washer is in the basement. So I hooked up all the 2 inch pipes and tested it and it still is overflowing out of the drain pipe. Any ideas? I hav to redo the plumbing anyways because I forgot to put a trap in the line! Its just one of those days. I am wondering if it is clogged? It sounds like its draining when listening near the pipes but then you can hear the water start coming up the pipe...

Yeah id say the pump on new washer is too much for the old 1 1/2" drain line, maybe try having somebody cable it out to see if that buys you some time :)
