Long story short, I just put in a new 2 inch pvc washer drain. Worked good the first week, now it is draining a little slow, just enough to over flow.

Diagnostic steps I've taken so far:
Right above where the new drain connects into current plumbing {a y fitting}, there is a clean out that is below the level of the p trap in the washer drain. I figured if the problem was past the y pipe in the old plumbing, it would also back up to the clean out. It does not back up to the clean out.

I cut the new washer drain just above the y pipe to see if it was clogged at the y, it is not. So I got the snake out to clean the entire length of new drain, about 8 feet, ran some water through the drain{left the drain unhooked and ran it into a 5 gallon bucket so that if their was a clog it would not drain into the old pipes and so I could see what it was} nothing came out but clean water.

I was even able to get a flash light, look up the drain, and could see the snake and all the way to the p trap. Looked good. Before I tear in to the p trap to see if there is something amiss there, I was looking for other suggestions.

Remember it worked good for a week. That is what is perplexing me.

Maybe a blocked vent

I don't think thats it. The plumbing from the vent {stack} to where the washer drain connects in has all been replaced. I'm gonna check it anyways though, just in case. Its kinda weird, I can put the garden hose down the washer drain, run it full bore and it wont over flow.

how far down is the trap from where the drain hose goes in?

After reading a couple other similar posts, I think to close. It is right next to the hose. {I did that, not a professional}. Thing is though, it worked like a charm for a week. And I don't see any way for the trap to get clogged that quick.

I think my next action will be to cut the trap out, that way I can check if it is full of lint or other crap, then move it farther down the line. If it is full of stuff, I guess I can by a trap with a clean out.

How far should it be from where the hose goes in?

I dont know the answere to that but whenever I install a washer drain, I have at least 3' feet of standpipe before the trap.

Heres another possible solution, possible. An in line lint trap will slow down the high pressure flow and also catch lint

Does this pipe connect to cast iron and run under the floor?

What the new drain does is as follows: A short stand pipe strait into the trap, then a 45 degree elbow, a 6 foot run or so down to a y connection near the floor. It is all 2 inch pipe. All is accessible for modification. I think I know what ya all are gonna say the problem is, but tell me any way so I know for sure.

It just baffles me why it would drain great for a week then slow down.

Not as bad as you think

Call Roto-Rooter of a plumber and have them run that line in the floor. Just had some sludge build up.

Heck do it all the time

1 or 2 % of the time we have to replace the line..really no big deal

Funny you should say that. Long story short, had to replace the old cast iron pipe with pvc from the kitchen sink connection {where it turns from a vent to a drain} down the floor. It broke at both connections

. While he was there, he ran all the old pipe out to the main 4 inch to make sure that if any stuff from the broken conections fell in it would be clear.

Floor line is good. I removed the clean out plug, which is just above the y where the washer drain conncets in, {which is lower than the stand pipe and p trap}and it is not backing up there.

The thing we must consider is that the washer drains faster than you can pour water down the pipe. I would really consider rerunning the line.

The clean out plug thing was with the washer draining. Not saying I wont have the drain redone, just want to cover all the things I can do before I pay out more money.{I found out that a pro can snake out a line in about a 1/4 of the time it takes me.}
