Warm water in cold water tank

My brother went up into my loft the other day, and noticed that there was some warm water in the cold water storage tank. Why would that be?

Ambient temperature of the room?

You could have a faucet that is internally bypassing allowing hot and cold water to mix.

Thanks for the replies. The temperature of the loft is about 45F at the moment as its cold outside and the ceiling joists are insulated making it cold up there. What is a faucet?

You need to get your immersion stat checked, and read this.
