take a look at this and scroll to drawing number 2 (kind of ironic, isn't it?)

that is the base bracket that is installed in the wall that the toilet mounts on. It is not only the mounting bracket but it is also the connection for the outflow from the toilet.

what did you think the toilet connected to anyway and what did youthink held up that 400 pound fat guy?

get the installation instructions for the toilet you want to hang on the wall. If you don't like the part that says "bolt metal bracket to wall", call the number for the manufacturer listed on the instructions and ask them. then report back to us and tell us what they said.

Are referring to a wall mounted WC bowl, tank or both?

Wall mounted tanks don't require the carrier if the bowl is floor mounted and floor outlet. A wall outlet bowl may or may not need the carrier, depending on the brand.

A wall mounted bowl will need a carrier. The leverage of a person sitting on that bowl will create a huge torque load on the wall and attempt to move it. The wall has to be sized and stabilized accordingly. The metal carrier accepts and transfers these high torque loads down into the supporting structure to keep the wall from just falling over.
