Vents

Hello. I have a vent question. I have an old home my wife and i bought. I have discovered that Our downstairs plumbing, Kitchen abd bathroom, do NOT have a air vent. Or kitchen sink gurgles when ever we turn the water on. In the bathroom the toilet and sink dont gurgle when they are used, but there is an open fitting that does need capped off, and i do believe it will have issues after i cap the line.

Up stairs we have out washer and dryer, toilet, sink, tub, and a seperate shower. The toilet cloggs easy, the sink gurgles but you can baley hear it, the shower will wake everone in the house its so loud, and the tub we havent used since we moved in. The washer gurgles fairly lous as well.
I know there is a cast iron pipe that services the sink and the toilet. However i assume the tub, shower, and washer feen into this same stack. When you look outside I see only one vent on the roof.

I know i need a vent of some sort, but i dont know what i need or what i need to do. I want to prevent sewer gas from coming into the house, and i also dont want any backups coming in either.

Plumbing isnt my strong suit and all help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Mr Smiley, a single line drawing of what you have now would be helpful to qualify the answers you will receive, sounds to me like you have a vent issue for sure, draw it up, scan it and post what you have now.
