Venting requirements

If a house was built in 1993, is it ok that the exhaust fans are vented into the attic? Are houses "grandfathered in" prior to a certain date at which time all houses were required to vent to the outside?

I can show you 100 houses that have fart fans vented into the attic. 10 years later there are no signs of moisture damage, though the next poster will tell you how terrible it is to do this.
Technically you are putting moisture into your attic, but as long as the attic is vented its not an issue.

It is a code violation, and for a good reason. Titoman may not see a problem, being in California, but in places where it gets much colder, it is a real problem. It really isn't that hard to do things right.

I agree with you. It's a regional thing.

yes have to agree with md2 on this one ...when warmer not that big of a deal but when colder can be a real issue.....thats where a code comes in handy...
