vent problem with sink

the homes here are 60-80 year old row homes. every sink in these homes is tied in to one vent exiting the roof. most pipes are buried in plaster walls. how can I add more vents so some of the sinks don't back up so much.

Add a studor vent (air admittance valve) to the piping below the sink.

How did you come to the determination that the vents were the problem?

I don't think the problem is with the vent. At that age, the drains are probably cast iron with galvanized steel "arms" from each fixture to the main drain and venting. There is most likely sediment/rust and perhaps even holes in the galvanized pipe which causes blockages.
