Vent Length of Run?

Hello all,

I am in the planning stages of moving a basement bathroom (all the way across the basement). Was just wondering how far venting can run horizontally. Not looking forward to breaking into upstairs walls.

It depends on your state, but you would be safe running a 2" vent up to 150 feet horizontally. Just make sure you put a slight pitch to the pipe incase any water that gets in can drain out. You have to be careful about offsets as well, you can't run a vent horizontally that drops under an obstruction such as a beam or duct, then rise again, that creates a trapped section where water can collect.

You're right about different states. I can only run a 2" horizontal vent 40'

Thanks very much, I'll check the local codes. It would be a fairly simple but long run.
