vent inlet pointing direction ...

UP towards the fixture or DOWN towards the outflow ??

if sewer was coming in, then definitely it would be clear that it should be turning downside. but the inlet supplies vent to a fixture (bath tub) up the pipe (and that is all that it is doing) and was thinking that it also would make sense to point it towards it. both options make sense to me. the latter seems like it would provide a more immediate access to venting but does look wierd as well.

please consider the illustration. it can be seen that i have it initially set to point UPSIDE towards where the bath tub outflow will be. but i can switch it easily.

thanks,

BACKWARDS!!
If I am reading this right, the left side of the pic is inlet and the waste will flow to the right? If this is correct, turn the twey over.

yes, you are right

left is inlet for the tub, right is outflow, the T side is the vent coming from the above. the vent, in this case, is vent ONLY, no flow coming through it.

Turn it around, it is backwards then. If water travels down the line part of the water will want to go into the vent side of the twey, thus a good place for debris to collect. Then if it has to be cleaned out with a snake, it may want to go up the vent instead of down the drain

Yes it is backwards.

i will turn it around

thanks gurus ! like i was saying in the original post, it will be easy to turn it 180.
