vent fot washer drain

hey all

I have a question concerning the need or not to have a vent for a washer drain

currently my washer is in the basement. running behind is the main lline coming from the toilet upstairs,
They simply tied into it with a 1 1/2" pipe and a p-trap
so...the hose form the washer simply goes into this piece of pipe and is carried off to the main stack which is about 10 feet away.
I've never ha issued with the drain.
I'm in the process of placing the washer in the main level bathroom. I was going to copy the same logic . basically have a pipe and p-trap come up from the basement and then simply tying into the min line from the toilet.

is this ok, or do I need venting of some sort?

trying to find layouts online but coming up short

you need to make sure the washer drain is vented in some way. what drain pipe do you intend to tie the new washer drain into?

The previous plumber might have considered it a direct vent.
