Vent Distance

Hi,

Is there a specific distance that a toilet and bathtub need to be from the main vent out of the roof? Or as long as everything is connected to the main sewage drain with that vent it's ok?

I was looking to change over the plumbing in the basement to PVC and do away with the old cast iron pipes. The only place I can relocate the 4" vent stack is in the middle of the house which will leave me about 12 feet form the toilet and tub connections. Is that ok?

Thanks in advance!

Vent Distance

Check what code your municipality uses, and do a web search for "Critical Distances" as per that code. I don't know the exact distances you need, but 12' is almost certainly too far.

Question

Vent Distance

I checked the code for my area and we use the 2009 IPC. I believe I read it right but I just wanted someone to verify that for me if possible.

I believe it states in the code that if running a 4" drain....you can have a 12' arm to the main vent stack. Does anyone know if this is correct?
