Vaseline for 11/4" vinly tubing / barbed fitting?

I'm having a hell of a time getting 1 1/4" vinyl tubing over some barbed fittings. I put the tubing in hot water, but it's still really hard to get it on the barb. Would using Vaseline be recommended? It wouldn't hurt the tubing or connection over time?

Is there a better way to get the hose on the barb? Take steroids and join a gym? :P

What is it your trying to hook up doing it that way?
I've used silicone grease so it will not effect the tubing.

That's probably a better idea, I actually have a tube of silicone grease for my water filter.

You might want to purchase a heat gun ( at $25 to $100), or try using a hair dryer.

Yeah, that doesn't work for ****. Bucket of hot + silicone grease is by far the best way I've found; easy at first but kills your chest after you do a few.
