Valve to the toilet is not working

So our Mansfield toilet was running, and I installed a new flush valve, but it took me a few days just because I needed to get out and get the part. I shut the water off so it would not continue to run and no problems there. After installing the new flush valve I fill the tank back up and it seems to be fixed but to make sure I turn the water back off and come back in a few hours to see if the water level went down at all. It had not so I assume I fixed the problem. So I go back to turn the water on and nothing at all no noise no water running nothing...

Any ideas

If the tank was full when you turned the water back on, you tank is full and you will not hear any water running. Did you flush the toilet and see if it fills?

Yeah I flushed and there is little to no water left in the tank so it should be refilling

Check to make sure the float isn't stuck in the up position.

New flush valve clogged with some kind of debris. (something fell into the tube while you were changing it)

Defective flush valve (unlikely but possible I suppose)



Just brainstorming. If it was me I would take it back apart and find the last place that I did have water..the next thing in line is the problem.

Is the float on the fill valve stuck in the up position or did it drop?

It dropped, and is in it's proper position

Well it's weird because once complete it was working. Put it together and filled the tank by turning the valve Then shut it off for those 2 hours to make sure the waterline did not drop, which it did not. So it was then when I turned it back on. I flushed and it never refilled

Shut the valve off, remove the supply line and slowly open the valve. Do you get water?
No, you need a new speedy valve.
