I am adding a utility sink in my basement and need to use a pump as the drain is over 4' above the floor. I am considering one like the Hartell LTA-1.
My question is, should the outlet be hard piped to the waste line (adding a new vent bypass) or can it be discharged into a 'Y' fitting similar to a washing machine discharge? If both are acceptable, is either one a preferred or superior approach?
You want to hard pipe it to your drain line, you should pipe up until you are just above your drain line and and grade it to the line ( don't pump up any farther then you have to). If you plan to discharge a wash machine into your sink make sure you read specs. about that.
