Utility sink drain

I have a project coming up to install a utility sink in my parents' basement. It's pretty straightforward, aside from cutting in the drain. I'll be using an AAV for venting.

Would it be OK to use the cleanout on the right side of the pic below as the feed for the new drain? (The pic below is not of my parents' house, it's from another thread but a very similar setup).

The situation in my parents' house makes it VERY difficult to cut into the 3" PVC, but they do have a cleanout. Could I get a 3x3x1.5" tee, and connect it to the existing female threads (which used to have the cleanout plug) with a 3" male fitting adapter? The other 3" of the tee would have a new cleanout, and the 1.5" would be for the sink.

What's the best way to position the tee? Should the sink come in from the bottom or a side?
I'm not sure I understand. The drain should always be positioned at the proper grade, in this case 2% (or 1/4 per ft).

Also, is it better to extend some 3" pipe a couple feet before putting in the tee to get it away from the toilet coming in above?
Good idea, although not completely necessary.

Well the utility sink will use a pump since the drains piping leaves the house above the sink. So do I go up from the sink and have the tee pointing down?

Or do I have the tee pointing sideways (slightly upwards) and have the sink go "up and over" to get into the tee?

Kind of hard to explain...hopefully you understand what i mean.
