Using sharkbite to fit leak in pipe...pipe hole size question.
So while putting up drywall this weekend my buddy put a drywall screw right through the main copper water line. :furious: Luckily I had one of those clamp style patches to hold it for now and I had a plumber come look at it on monday. $150 to fix it.:jester::eek: Man, I know plumbers have it made in massachusetts but seriously, what is this a 10 minute job at that? I respect what they do but every bone in my body says that's just ridiculous so I'm going to patch it myself.
I was at lowes and they tried to convince me to use a pressure fitting but I've heard great things about the sharkbites so I think I'm going to go that route. The part is around $6 but there are no instructions and I can't find anything online about how much pipe to remove in order to fit the fitting between the ends. Any though on this?
