Using the existing shower drain for new tub.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice on my bath rebuild. I am installing an MTI drop in bathtub where my shower used to be, my question is can I run a drain pipe from the bath drain over to the existing shower drain? There is about a 4" difference between the two, and I do not want to try and dig up anymore concrete at risk of breaking the cast iron pipe which is about 50 years old. I've already had to abandon the sink drain due to cracks in the cast iron and I don't want to mess with it anymore besides it's buried in about 12 inches of concrete. Hopefully someone can let me know if this is a bad idea, thanks.

Your shower drain is trapped. Do not double trap your tub. I would consider building a platform to hold the tub so I could do the plumbing on top of the concrete. a pic would be real nice

you can use the existing drain but pipe the line over to where the tub is and reduce it down so you can use an 1-1/2 trap, the trap needs to be under the tub and like paintdrying said do not double trap it.
