Used wrong type of pipe thread compound
In my haste to get a job done, I accidentally bought and used they type of pipe thread coumpound used for metal pipes and used it on my new PVC 3" cleanout threads. A few days later, I read the instructions stating not to use this on PVC. I wiped as much off as I could but am wondering if there is something to use to clean the rest of it off or should I just plan on cutting the cleanout off and replacing it with a new one. It doesn't appear to have damaged the plastic.

I am not a plumber but my buddy is. He uses the yellow pipe dope on pvc threads in some cases. I have used it also and haven't noticed any problems. Maybe someone else will chirp in have a reason not to, but I don't see what it would hurt. The pvc is pretty impervious to damage.

Thanks. I was sort of thinking in those terms. I guess it will become evident in short order if the cleanout fails in my crawlspace. The outcome would be the same, saw off and replace. Thankfully, planned ahead and left enough pipe in between joints so I don't have to replace the entire assembly.
