urinal problem

This is a weird one.... The men's restroom at my shop has a urinal with a Sloan valve and a toilet with a Sloan valve. When you flush the toilet, the urinal will also flush occasionally. What gives? Is there some pressure issue? Or something wrong with one or both flush valves?

Try replacing the diaphram in urinal see if that solves it.

Went to the supply house for the diaphram. Aparently, there's 3 different one's just for urinals, and you need to match it up with the old one. I went and snagged the one out of the urinal, but the supply house is closed now. The diaphram by itself is about 5 bucks, and the whole repair kit is 20 bucks. I think that the kit is a good idea. I had to scour the shop for a Crescent wrench big enough to get the chrome top off that valve, so that I wouldn't have to use a pipewrench and put teethmarks on it. I hate that, when I see a Sloan valve all boogered up in a public restroom from the hack before who used the wrong tools to open it up with.

Did you know the only thing that makes the difference in the types is the color of the ring that is stationary seen on the bottom side of a diaphram, there is

Black, white and blue, white is for closet, black is for urinal, blue is for water saver.

The plunger it's self is just that, it can be of any color.

I think and I could be wrong, the water saver diaphram can be used in either a closet or a urinal water saver 1.6 gal flush valve.

Mine was Green. 1.0 gpf. Install went pretty smooth. So far, so good. Here's a scan of the paper in the kit.

:) I thought about green also, but did not click at the time. Maybe there is no blue, damit I'm going color blind.
