I am redoing my small bathroom w/a barnwood vanity. I would like to use one of my old enamel bowls I have. Is it possible to get a hole drilled in the bottom for a drain??? Is there anything out there that is a replica that would work???? Any ideas for some other type of sink?
That is kind of a neat idea...
I assume that the bowl that you are planning is enameled metal?? If so it probably would not be a good idea. Drilling a hole shouldn't be hard, with the right tools, but the stress of having a drain mounted to it and used in this situation would make very small cracks in the enamel that would eventually break down to allow the moisture to get to the metal and rust.
There are lots of "vessel sinks" out there that would do the job and are designed for that use. To see what they look like in use try one of the upscale home centers such as "the Great Indoors" or such.
