Undermounting a Self-rimming sink??

The countertop fabricator is waiting on me to chose a sink so he can get the countertop made.

I found a deal on a new cast iron kohler self-riming sink....BUT....I want to undermount it so its not above the counter and makes it easier to sweep things into the sink.

Is undermount a self-rimming sink possible? I have 3/4 plywood on the counter right now and will be adding 2cm granite on top of that.

Thanks

Undermounting a Self-rimming sink??

Anything is possible, they make sinks that can installed either way or both ways. It really depends on the lip edge of the sink and how its going to be supported and meet the bottom of the counter. If the sink you choose, specifically say self rimming mount only, then you can't install it undermount. You might get leaks between the top of the sink and the bottom of the counter if it isn't designed to be installed that way, it could also look strange. Do you have the sink model number handy?
