Is it OK to remove the overflow drain and cap off the vertical leg of the drain T where the overflow pipe connected with a slip nut?. Would there be any concerns of trapping sewer gas in this short 3" leg of the T?. Presumably there is a trap installed underneath the T.
My intention is to conver at cement walled rectangular built-in-place tub to a showeer stall use only. I'm also lowering the threshold to about 8" from the original height which was to bathtub levels.
The tub overflow drain is above the tub trap, so it's O.K. to remove it. Did this tub have a shower with it before?
When installing a shower only, it usually requires a 2" drain and trap where the tub may have only a 1.5" drain and trap.
yes it did have a shower before. I am also replacing th e drain shoe. Considering the Brass T (original), any problem in hooking up a PVC drain shoe/connecting pipe to brass T. Is it OK to use a PVC slip nut also?
