Trying to loosen stem valve nut
I am attempting a presumably simple task - repairing a leaky faucet. (Of course, nothing is ever easy!) I have a compression type valve causing the drip. I removed the handle and am now trying to remove the valve stem. I am trying to loosen the valve stem nut, but it won't budge. I tried using an adjustable wrench, and then tried a pliers so that I could squeeze a grip on the nut. However, I am trying not to force it because I do not want to strip the nut. Any suggestions?
It should unscrew counter-clockwise. Use a larger adjustable wrench or a valve socket and enough leverage to turn it out.
