Trying to fix leaky Delta 1400 series, handle stuck

My wife and I have a Delta 1400 series single handle shower faucet that has a leak that's gone from a slow drip to a steady trickle. We've done a fair bit of research into fixing this, but we've only gotten as far as removing the set screw. The handle (which looks like a H79), is completely stuck. It's still limited by the rotational limit stop, it still controls the water flow; it's as though the screw hasn't been removed; there's no discernible difference.

Any ideas?
