traps & vents

Stan the Man

I'm "helping" a friend convert a garage into a master bath with shower stall, garden tub, sink and toilet. On the other side of an ajoining wall will be the laundry room. I need to know: which items need to be vented independantly, and do I install traps for each item (except toilet, which has it's own)? I'm using 3" dwv because the old lines were 3" castiron. The shower, sink and washing machine drop directly into the main drain; the toilet and garden tub are "t" ed.

Traps for everything. One for safety and the other for smell. Sewers have lots of methane coming out of there.

You need traps on all of the fixtures. The toilet will drain into the main 3" line. The sink and garden tub need a 1-1/2" drain and the shower requires a 2" drain. I have included a link with "typical" drain and vent diagrams.
