Town water supply line code.

Can anyone tell me the code for running a town water supply line through the foundation? My home has a 1" black PVC type pipe coming through the concrete that connects to the meter via nut and ferrule. My question is, shouldn't there be a sleeve and seal around the pipe? Won't the PVC break down from contact with foundation or break from foundation settlement? The street was converted to town water/sewer a few years ago, before I purchased the property. I had ground water come in between the pipe and foundation and had to excavate the front yard to relieve pressure so I could use hydraulic cement on both sides of the foundation. Thank you...

Sorry Massachusetts

You will get a far more accurate answer if you put you location into your profile.

Codes vary a lot---we have members from the U.S--Canada,England, Germany, and New Zeland to mention just a few.----Location helps with codes.

Your town is the best entity to answer this question. Good luck.

I believe code in most places (USA anyway) requires sleeves for foundation penetrations (water and sewer). Usually one pipe size larger than the water or sewer line. Even if it didn't I'd do it anyway just to be safe.
