top mount sink wont seat

installing a new top mount sink over tile countertop and there is a 1/4 inch gap on both sides of sink. the clips are too short to reach under the plywood, cement board and tile. could the new sink be warped? it sits tight to the counter front and back

With the sink removed, hold a 2' level across the edges. This should be an indication of any warping. Do the same thing along the edges of the countertop where the sink is going to be installed. 1/4" on each side is a lot of gap.
