top floor washer/dryer
I am in the process of running the lines to the top floor of my house for my washer and dryer. I love the front loading machines but I've heard so many bad things about how loud they can be along with excessive vibration. I see that Samsung has a machine that is supposed to reduce vibration - was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a quiet machine or anything else that I should be thinking about. We are already planning on tiling the area where the machines will be and adding a floor drain.

I just recently bought a set of Maytag series 5000 front loader washer and dryers and I am amazed how quiet they are, I can barely hear them at all.

Thanks Jim,

Do you have them in the basement or on an upper floor? If on an upper floor - any tricks on how to keep them going quiet? I was going to build a closet with a ceramic tile base to put them in - floor drain of course... From what I read there could be some "walking" going on when installed on ceramic tile.

I have them on a concrete floor in the basement. make sure they are installed level, The delivery people did all that for me so i didn't have to mess with it. Well worth it. If you plan to tile the floor which i think is a good idea, make sure you use a backer board and make sure its all level.
