Too much pipe sealant

Just wanted to vent to people who understand. Put too much pipe sealant on my galvanized fittings and squeezed out into the pipe. Found out that it can take up to five years too start seeing the pipe sealant come out of the faucet. I will try to clean up as much as I can..
