Toliet TAnk Support

Had a guy replace current toliet and it now sits about 5 inches from the wall. He says its because I replaced it with a bigger toliet (not round) and that the flange was also cracked. He had to do a quick repair.
Can the tank be supported. Its loose now, and he said not to tighten it down to tight. None of this sound right. help

If it's not tight it's not right. different toilets have different offsets from the wall. Did he move the closet flange when he did the repair? Is the tahk loose or is it the bowl wobbling on the floor?

sounds like you done bought the wrong toilet. They come 10, 12 and 14" rough. Take it off the flange and measure the center of the flange to wall distance and purchase toilet appropriately.

We've noticed that 12" rough pro-flo toilets (from ferguson) sit about 1-1/2" from the wall....

5" is pretty extreme, although it really shouldn't matter too much since they aren't meant to really be leaned against.

We do have a customer who leans on the toilet so heavily we have to continually go and tighten the tank-to-bowl bolts. :whistling2:
