Toilet won't flush down contents.

I replaced the "guts" of my toilet with new fluidmaster toilet supplies. It seems to be installed correctly acoording to the instructions except for the fact that now the contents of the toilet needs to be flushed twice to get everything to flush down. What can I check or adjust to to give the water more "power" to flush the contents down? This wasn't happening prior to changing out the inside...Thanks.

See if the water level in the tank is high enough up the overflow tube. There may be a water level line marked there. If the water level is lower than the mark, adjust the float mechanism on the Fluidmaster to allow for the additional water.

This particular model has an adjustable crimp on the overflow tube. Is this used to control the water level in the tank or the level of the water in the tank?

kenny, there should be an adjustment to the float level. If you still have the box it came in it will show you how to adjust the height of the unit in the tank and then a finer adjustment with a little knob on the float arm itself. The water level when it shuts off, should be within about an inch of the top of the filler tube. Make sure the filler hose is attached to the tube in a manner that the water coming from the hose -goes directly down the filler tube but the hose is above the top of the tube. At least that's the way all of mine are, i think they are a fluidmaster model 400a or something like that.

Here is a pic of what I am looking at. It does have an adjustment screw on the side of the float that can be turned either direction. Assuming that this is to adjust the float. I have adjusted this numerous times and it does not seem to make a difference with the power of the flush. What is the blue clip on the refill tube do? Could this be the possible answer or solution?

The top of the float says that it is a model 400. I don't have the instructions and/or the box.
