Our toilet tank will not fill up with water. The toilet bowl appears to be clogged. What can we do? Barb Cano

clear the clog.
start with a bucket of water...
then go to a plunger; move up to a closet auger if needed.

After the clog is cleared... look inside the tank for water level.

the float may need to be adjusted upward to allow more water in before it turns off the supply or the float may be faulty or the flapper may be leaking and letting water pass by.

figure out which is YOUR problem.
usually replacing the whole shebang is the best use of time.

There are two separate issues here.

The toilet appears to be clogged.......... Fill up a bucket of water from another source and gradually pour it into the toilet bowl. If water level starts to rise, stop pouring and use a plunger until clog is cleared. If this fails, the clog may have to be cleared with a rotating snake. If the water level does not rise, your toilet does not have a clog.

The tank will not fill up.........this could be one of a number of things.
Shut off valve turned off
Shut off valve or feed line clogged
Tank float or valve stuck..
