Toilet Wax Ring & Horn
I'm trying to help a brother finish a bathroom that a contractor left undone. The toilet will not set back in place properly.
The horn of the new wax ring will not drop into the floor flange. It seems the new pvc flange is about an 1/8th inch smaller than standard--small enough that the horn won't go inside it. My questions are can I just set the toilet on a wax ring without a horn? Can you buy them this way? OR can buy a wax ring with a smaller diameter horn? (We did try setting the toilet with a standard wax ring and horn combo, but the toilet leaked, and when we removed it the horn was mangled.) |

You can use a ring with out a horn. They are cheaper and work fine.

Toilet Wax Ring & Horn
Install just a plain wax seal with no horn. I ran into this once. It seems the pipes inside diameter was too small to accept the horn. Not sure why though.
