toilet vent removal

My girlfriend's grandmother recently passed away and she became the inheiritor of theestate. She wishes to do some major remodeling in one of the bathrooms mostly eliminating the entire thing. I have done most of the work on remodeling bathrooms before except that I have never had to mess with the actual Vent pipe before. Since there will be no more toilet is it....

1) safe to remove the pipe completly and just cap off the bottom down in the crawlspace as though it was never there

2) any other information that I may need for this job

THank you for all of your help and advice in advance

If there is no fixture attached to the vent like sink or tub if not then just remove or cap it.
If there is and keeping other fixtures then cut the flang off and cap it.
