Someone has tried to tighten`the bolts that hold the tank to the toilet. The wingnut and bolt is corroded and they tore the slot up on the bolt head. How do I hold the bolt to get the wingnut off?
sound's like you are going to take a hack saw blade and make a new slot. These are brass so shouldn't be to hard to do . If you have a dremel tool with a cutter that would be easy any thing to make a new slot in the bolt
Now when installing the new one's don't tighten to tight or you will brake the tank
The last time I had this problem I sawed the old bolt off using a Sawzall and metal blade. Then replaced the bolt. Quick and easy.
