toilet problem

sounds like you have a clogged line or a stopped up vent

toilet problem

Normally, this is a vent problem. Drain lines need air to operate properly. The vent supplies this air. The vent pipe is the one you see going out of your roof. Each drain in the house is connected to this pipe. For ease of understanding, place a drinking straw into a glass of water. Put your finger over the end of the straw and lift the straw up. Water will stay in the straw until you remove your finger. In the winter, spiderwebs can collect condensate and freeze, birds will often nest there or an animal can fall down, and clog it. You need to go onto the roof (if safe) and look down the pipe with a flashlight. If you can see a clog, remove all you can by hand and then flush with a garden hose.
