Toilet Problem
so i am lower than a novice but i want to fix this myself =)
after a flush the water level in the bowel begins to VERY VERY slowly raises. it takes about 2-3 hours to reach the top of the overflow tube and once it does there is a mini-flush. before i go taking everything apart anyone have an idea what the problem is? thanks sloane |
Bad fill valve or if it an older style a bad float.

so i should probably replace the whole floating ballcock and the tube it is attached to right?

If it's an older toilet, some of the internal passages may be clogged with calcium deposits. If that is the case you're best off replacing it.

Since you mentioned the overflow tube, I assume you are referring to the tank and not the toilet bowl. For less than $10 you can purchase a Fluidmaster 400A fill-valve. The instructions are vey good and it is an easy fix. It will also eliminate the ball.
