I have installed several Kohler 6l low flush toilets and had no problems excpet on the main floor. I frequently experience blockage and believe something is stuck down line past or at the Y connecting from the top floor which is about 3' down line. After several bouts of plunging and snaking recently while painting I removed the toilet, ran a golf ball through it and found nothing. I have used a heavy snake on a crank handle and a have 20' auger drill version as well but am thinking its time to cut into the ABS at the trunk line. 6' past the y is a second branch to the main drain pipe. Any tips before I proceed with surgery?

The blockage or lack of flow could be caused by a number of things.
- Too many bends or sharp bends in the pipe
- Incorrectly set gasketed wax ring can create an obstruction
- Insufficient downward flow of the pipe
- Excessive downward flow of the pipe (rare)
- Insufficient water from the water-saving toilet to get the solids downstream.
Might want to have a plumber run a camera down the pipe before cutting into it, or rent the camera yourself. That might help you from doing unnecessary destructive means to find the problem.

Thanks but been through that checklist already and have installed a lot of similar smaller pipe correctly in other homes so I know about the elbows. Very certian the blockage is occuring past the toilet and gasket as it does not overflow.
