Toilet overflow

I have a cistern which keeps filling and overflowing to outside pipe. I have tightened screw at opposite end as far as it will go clockwise and no change- any suggestions
My ballcock is a plastic type so bending the arm isn't an option

Toilet overflow

Welcome to the forum---

There are many kinds if toilet flush valves---the one you describe is adjusted as you have done---if turning the screw in all the way on the end of the ball cock--then the valve itself has issues---those can be rebuilt---however a new flush valve is very inexpensive-about $10.00 USD--so most folks simply buy a new valve.

Replacement is simple--
