Question

Toilet Issue - Flap Sticking to Ball

Hello all - Nice place you got here, tons of good information.

Every time i flush my toilet, the flap gets stuck on the ball and water will keep dumping down the toilet. We have to open it up and reach in to correct this every time.

Any recommendations for correcting this? I have the ball set fairly low to ensure that we don't use too much water every time we flush. The flap is a soft rubber type flap.

Could i weigh the flap down? Can I lube up the ball so the flap wont' stick?

Thanks in advance!

Toilet Issue - Flap Sticking to Ball

How long has your toilet flush system been in this tank? Some of those older flappers would get sort of "rubbery" and stick to most anything. Personally, IMO, I would change out the old fashioned float ball system to one of the newer float systems. These newer systems are much more accurate as to water levels and the components last longer. And- -they are a DIY project. Thanks, David

Thurman is right on. You can pick up one of these for about 10 bucks. It will solve your problem and outperform the old style ballcock.

That's perfect. Thanks a lot guys. I've swapped out a flap or two before, so this shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks again!!!
