Toilet Issue

Just moved into new house. When i flush my toilet it has a running sound like its trying to fill up. Ive found if i turn the valve off and back on it flows normal and fills up stopping the running noise. Im sure this is simple, but im learning.

Thanks in advance
Jerry

It sounds like you have a fluid master ball cock, 99% of the time its the diaphram that needs to be replaced , if its a 400 A its under the cap on top ,200 its at the base.

Or just replace it with a new one.

A whole new toilet?? Is replacing whatever he just mentioned really not worth the hassle?

A 400A is only $6 bucks or so, and comes with very simple illustrated installation directions. Easy.

No, just a new valve. The part that's inside the tank on the left side.
